OUR FLIGHT PATH: THE TRUEAERO ORIGIN STORY
In 2012, Karl Drusch discovered an opportunity to purchase a warehouse in Sebastian, Florida.
The material solutions business took off in 2013 with the acquisition of three Airbus A320s. This acquisition, in addition to the current assets and business that existed then, drove TrueAero to remodel the warehouse from the previous design of a fish hatchery to a controlled asset management business. In November 2013, TrueAero officially opened its first facility in Sebastian. Gus Delpozo was the first TrueAero team member to be hired, and took charge of running the warehouse operations.
Upon completion of the aircraft teardowns, TrueAero began selling the component materials which drove expansion of the staff to handle the sales. This expansion included hiring TrueAero’s second-longest-tenured team member, Anna Paugh. After the success of TrueAero’s initial A320 teardown project, new teardown opportunities presented themselves along with the emergence of an investor. By the end of 2014, TrueAero completed its first engine lease to Air Canada, which allowed TrueAero to develop a great reputation as an aircraft teardown and engine leasing business.
In October 2015, TrueAero acquired a portfolio of 18 leased aircraft. By June 2017, TrueAero expanded through opening additional offices in Dallas, Texas and Dublin, Ireland. In 2020, TrueAero and TrueAero Asset Management reached 50 aircraft in the portfolio. By October 2024, TrueAero reached over 150,000 parts sold to date to over 1,000 unique customers.
Having celebrated ten years of business, TrueAero looks forward to continuing to serve its current clients and to building new relationships with its future customers and vendors.
